Bayawan is the most progressive cities in the southern part of Negros Oriental. It is rich in agricultural and marine resources. As part of their long-term culture and tradition, the celebration of the Tawo Tawo Festival 2019 plays an important role in the lives of every Bayawanon.

Tawo Tawo Festival 2019

The term “tawo tawo” is a Visayan term for a scarecrow. During the early years, Bayawan was filled with fields of rice, corn and other crops. The fields were so rich that birds would feast upon the harvest causing famine to the human population. The scarecrows save the day by keeping the birds out. The actual festival was held last February 16, 2019. There is not much to see and say for this year’s festival celebration. Nevertheless, the organizers still managed to somehow make it colorful and decent for the public to see.
