Showdown and Street Dancing

Buglasan Festival 2022 was a success! After three years, the grandest festival in the province of Negros Oriental is back with a bang. Last October 30, 2022 the showdown and street dancing competition were held. Seven festivals participated in this year’s competition. The Tapasayaw Festival of Bais City, Puhag Festival of Valencia, Carabao de Colores of Vallehermoso, Bodbod Festival of Tanjay City, Pasayaw Festival of Canlaon City, and Sandurot Festival of Dumaguete City.

The Grand Showdown

The showdown competition was held at Lamberto Macias Sports and Cultural Complex. Aside from the governor and the different mayors of the province, South Korean Mayor Jeong Yeong-Chul from Yeongdong-gun also attended the showdown. The loud beating off the drums kicked off the Buglasan Festival 2022 competitions as beautiful festive colors flooded the venue.

Buglasan Street Dancing

The showdown ended around noon. Just enough time for the dancers, festival king and queen to eat lunch and rest. Past two o’clock in the afternoon the street dancing parade started. The festive colors of their floats and dancers flooded the streets of Dumaguete. Spectators also started to flood as they witness once more the Buglasan fever.

After dancing around the streets of Dumaguete, they all gathered at the Freedom Park for the announcement of winners. Ending the day with fireworks and a lot of happy smiles. Did you miss the event? Watch the video below!
